Blessing Day

Kasey blessed Kimberly last week. My mom crocheted this beautiful dress for Makayla's blessing in 2004. Luckily, I've been able to use it for 2 more girls.

We also got our first family picture taken since Kimberly was born. It's not the best (we can't wait for Carrie to take our family pictures), but it's our first and therefore special to us. No matter the quality.

Joke Courtesy of Ellie

What does a frog say?
**Ribbit! Ribbit!

What does a bunny say?
**Rabbit! Rabbit!

Maybe it's because I'm the mom, but I thought this was hilarious!

She May Be a Tall Girl Yet

Kimberly went for her 2 month check-up yesterday. She weighed in at 11 pounds 3 ounces and is now 21 1/2 inches long. This little girl has grown 4 inches in 2 months! Crazy!

Ellie also went for her 2 year check-up, albeit 3 months late. Oh well. She is 30 pounds and just over 3 feet tall.

What can I say? We grow 'em big in our family.

Dear Kimberly,

I am so happy that you let me sleep for 7 hours in my own bed last night. After a week of sleepless nights, it was heaven! However, 7 hours of sleep at night does not compensate for the 6 hours of screaming/crying that you have done thus far today. Can't we please find a happy medium? The stress is a little more than I can take.
Love,
Your Mom

Smile

Last night we got a short break from Kimberly's crying when she graced us with a little half-smile. It was great!

First Week Back at Church

February 22 was my first Sunday back to church since having Kimberly. She handled church a lot better than I expected. She slept the entire time with the exception of the 30 minutes that she was eating. What a relief!

The hard part happened after the meeting was over. Kasey poked his head into my classroom to let me know he was going to pick up Makayla and Ellie from their classes; then he would meet me in the foyer. I gathered up Kimberly and all our stuff. As I was walking down the hall, someone came up to me and asked, "Did you find Ellie?"

"Um, no. I didn't know she was missing."

"Oh. Well, I just saw your husband looking for her."

"Okay thanks. I'll go find her."

I continued walking down the hall towards Ellie's classroom and found Makayla. "Makayla, where is Ellie?"

"I don't know. She just ran away from me."

The hall was littered with people, several of whom tried to help with "I saw Ellie over there" or "She ran that way."

I located Kasey and asked where Ellie was. He didn't know. So we combined forces. We went opposite directions hoping to herd her towards the other. Halfway around the church someone told me that Kasey had Ellie. Awesome! I walked back the other direction to get Makayla.

I was almost to her and she took off the other direction. I called to her to come back. She yelled back at me, "I'm going to look for Ellie!"

Standing next to me was a friend who sent her 10 year old after Makayla. Just then Ellie came walking up to me sans Kasey. "Ellie, where is your dad?"

"Mom, I played with kids today!"

"That's great! Where is your daddy?"

"He's just went to work."

At this point, my friend offered to take Kimberly so I could track down the rest of my family. I set my stuff down (Yes, I was still carrying around the baby car seat and 2 bags. Good Grief!), picked up Ellie so I wouldn't misplace her again, and headed the other direction. I told my friend, "If you see Kasey or Makayla, will you please have them stay by you? Thanks."

Halfway around the church I found Kasey and Makayla. Hallelujah! Kasey saw me and said, "Where's Kimberly?"

"She's with Michele. You take Ellie and Makayla and meet me in the foyer where our coats are."

I walked back to where I left Kimberly and Michele. And wouldn't you know, they were gone. A bystander who had been watching this entire thing unfold (and no doubt laughing) asked if I had found my children. "Yes. Well, sort of. I can't find my baby."

"Who had her?"

"Michele."

"Oh, I saw her go that way chasing after her own kids."

Fantastic! You would think that the baby who can't walk would be easy to keep track of. Not so.

Finally, I found Michele with Kimberly and all my stuff. I scooped up the baby and grabbed all my stuff and miraculously made it to where Kasey was waiting with Makayla and Ellie.

Whew! I was so frazzled by the end of that 10 minutes. I looked at Kasey and said, "I hope not every Sunday is like this."

It's Not My Fault. I'd Blog If I Could.

I've been neglecting my blog lately. I'm going to blame it on the baby. My days are spent trying to make her stop crying. And it has turned into a full-time job.

When I get some time (possibly this week when Kasey is home), I have a great story about our first time at church as a family of five. You won't want to miss it.
