The New Face of Stubborn

I am officially passing on the torch of most stubborn person to this adorable girl.

Ellie has a stubborn streak in her that is more prominent than the white stripe on a skunk.

Tonight Ellie and Makayla got into a little squabble while I was cooking dinner. Hair was pulled. Someone was pushed. Tears were a plenty.

I told the girls that neither of them got to eat until they apologized to the other. Makayla quickly said I'm sorry and dug into her frozen pizza and apple juice. (It's all about nutrition at my house.)

Ellie, however, refused to say, "I'm sorry." For 20 minutes she sat on her chair watching the rest of us eat dinner. She asked for some food. I told her she couldn't eat until she told Makayla sorry. She asked Kasey for some juice. He told her he would be happy to pour her some juice after she said, "I'm sorry."

"I don't want to say 'sorry' to Makayla." And she didn't. In the end she opted for a timeout in her bedroom which turned into her going to bed without any dinner.

Now, I'm a stubborn person. I'm pretty sure I always have been. (sorry mom and dad.) But this I just don't understand. I mean honestly! How hard is it to say, "I'm sorry" so you can eat dinner and ice cream with the rest of the family?!

Funny Quote

I read this quote this morning and laughed so hard.
With a stop light, green means 'go' and yellow means 'slow down'. With a
banana, however, it is quite the opposite. Yellow means 'go', green means 'whoa,
slow down', and red means 'where the heck did you get that banana?'

I went to see my OB/GYN today for my 6 week post-delivery check up. As I was undressing and laying my clothes on the chair, the only thing I could think of was this post.

Oh, how right you are, Chris.

My Sleeping Beauty

Check out those eye lashes!
It's totally not fair!

A Little Spring Cleaning

Kasey and I took on a huge project yesterday. We cleaned out our storage unit. I knew we had a bunch of stuff in there, but it seemed like way more when it was in the middle of our living room and spread throughout the apartment.

We also managed to clean out the bedroom closets and coat closet. We threw away so much stuff! More than once I heard Kasey mumble under his breath, "Gosh Kasey! You are such a pack rat!" And my little heart sang as I watched him throw away things that I have, on more than one occasion, begged him to get rid of. (Ahem. . . movie stubs, random cords, old gun parts. . .ahem.) But to be fair, I found some old pay stubs of mine from 11 years ago.

At the end of the day, I found myself looking around wondering what to do with all of our new found space. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll find some junk to throw in that newly clean corner soon enough.

C-A-T Spells Cat

Makayla's teachers are really focusing on getting the students ready to start kindergarten in the fall. As a result, Makayla writes her ABC's on any scrap of paper whenever she gets the chance. She yells out letters that she sees on signs as we are driving down the road. She also informs me that Uncle Sam starts with "S" and Daddy starts with "K." (Okay so daddy doesn't start with k, but her daddy's name does. So she's mostly right.)

Another thing that I'm so excited to see is when Makayla actually spells words. But here's a question: Is it bad of me to laugh when she spells swear words and doesn't know it?

Morning Exchange with Ellie

"It's a mess."

"What's a mess?"

"Probly my bedroom is a mess."

"Did you make the mess in your room?"

"Uh. . . it's just a mess."

"How come?"

"I'm just probly looking for Liana. That's why."

"Do you need some help?"

"Uh-huh! Come on Mama."

She drags me to her room.

"Oh, it's not too big of a mess."

"Yeah, just a little mess. Where's Liana?"

"Did you look in the bottom bucket?"

"She's probly not in there."

"Did you look in the top bucket?"

"No, she's just in the bottom bucket."

I retrieve Barbie Liana from the bucket.

"Here you go."

"Thanks!" As she runs/toddles out of the room, "I love you, too!"

At least my small efforts are not going completely unnoticed.

Update

Kimberly is nearly 4 weeks old. Crazy! Unlike my other two, I don't want her to grow up. Start sleeping through the night? Yes. Grow as fast as she is? Definitely not!
After 4 weeks, this is my assessment. Having three children is no walk in the park. I feel like I need six arms to keep up with all the things that require my attention. However, three children is not quite as hard as I imagined it would be, thankfully. I'm finding it a little more difficult to do things like grocery shopping, but I'm sure it will get easier as time goes on.

Here are a few new pictures. I still can't decide what color her eyes are going to be. Some days they look blue and some days brown.

My favorite time of the day--nap time.

My sister made these adorable tutus and wands for Makayla & Ellie. They absolutely love them!
