Good Quotes

I love quotes. I used to collect quote books. When I worked at a library, I could spend hours in the reference section sitting among quote books. I like finding quotes and sayings that express how I feel because I am so poor with words.

I read one today on the side of my Starbucks cup that describes how I look at my childhood sometimes.

Childhood is a strange country. It's a place you come from or go
to--at least in your mind. For me it has an endless, spellbound something in it
that feels remote. It's like a little sealed-vault country of cake breath and
grass stains where what you do instead of work is spin until you're dizzy.
--Lyall Bush

I really miss my childhood sometimes. When I am stuck in the middle of crying children, dirty dishes, mounting bills, and endless to-do lists, I like to remember what it was like to spin and spin in my beautiful red and white dress while my mother played the piano.

My childhood was probably the happiest times of my life. I was completely carefree. So, I like knowing that those memories are a "little sealed-vault country" that I can visit any time the stress and worry of my current life begin to be too much.

I have very fond memories of my childhood too. I hope that I am providing the same joy for my own children.
