Well, yesterday, I was so mad that I really just wanted to spit!
This is Makayla's Christmas dress. I loved it so much that I paid full price for it at the store. I loved it so much that I didn't feel bad having paid full price even when it was on sale the following week. That's a pretty big deal for me!
Knowing how much I loved this dress, you can imagine how mad I got when I saw it looking like this
My only guess is that Makayla ran out of paper to cut and decided to test out her scissors on fabric. That or she has a deep, burning desire to one day be a great seamstress.

oh boy! Next will be the hair! I'm too paranoid to leave Lauren alone with scissors and just recently I was thinking "I should let her use scissors more often". Now I've changed my mind, thanks Laura!
Has Makayla lost her scissor priviledges for awhile?
Oh...oh Laura! I just want to spit with you! :) I am a clothes Natzi (sp?) and I really hate when they even get a stain or a rip, etc. I never even dry their clothes other than undies and pj's for fear that they will fade or shrink! I can't even imagine if they cut up a beautiful dress! wowza...although it is a bit funnier when it's someone else! hehe good for you for taking it okay!
That stinks. I don't even know what I would have done. What did you do?
I just have to say the scissors would be in the trash!!!!!
That is why I never let my kids use scissors. Kenny has some little plastic ones he used with the play dough but that is all. I am to scared something like this would happen, or Aubrey would cut her hair, or they would try to cut each other. I am so sorry about the dress.
OH NO! I'm sick for you. I've had similar feelings for a dress that got stained. It's gut wrenching! I'm so sorry. I've learned my lesson from your sweet Makayla...don't let Addi have scissors until she's 13(:
wow!!! what can i say. at least maybe she is getting an early start on an amazing career in fashion. i suggest give her the peices and she what she comes up with. for real...how sad.
I threw her scissors in the garbage. (Although in hind sight, that was stupid because I'll just have to buy her a new pair down the road.)
She also got the longest time-out of her life.
Then I was really mean and made her wear her ugliest shirt for the rest of the day. For Makayla, wearing the ugly shirt was far worse than losing her scissors or sitting in time-out!
Oddly enough, today I'm completely over it and can actually laugh about it.
Hee, hee!! Sorry- that is so sad!
:( If I am correct I believe that line is from one of my favorite movies as well... The Parent Trap! (old version)?
I had to smile reading this, cause I can relate to rarely paying retail. Then I smiled even bigger to look below the post and see a picture of your girls with scissors. lol
I love the stories about your girls, sorry about the dress though!! It was very cute! Don't you wonder when things like this happen? I swear I'm watching Paden, and then I discover some secret thing he's been demolishing! So, did you finish the rest of the Uglies books? I loved them all! well, have a great day!!
Oh my! Well, I guess just be glad it wasn't to your dress.
